Modern Tribe’s matriarch is Gwen Scales (”Hazeenah”), whose sultry, sexy, powerful vocals compliment the clean, vibrant tones of the keyboard talent of Tribes’ patriarch, Charles Scales. Tribes’ other clan members, Ray Manzerolle, sax, and Melvin Maxwell, percussion and vocals, work the solid rhythms and melodies that pulsate from their urban adult contemporary musical selections.
